May 30, 2000 Its Tuesday, we woke up about three this morning for no reason. Then about five we packed. Because we were going to ride the Bullet Train today. Then about six we took our luggage downstairs. Then at 6:30 my parents ate breakfast at a different place then normally and at seven I ate at the place we always do. But, I only had twenty minutes to eat. Because we had to meet the bus to the Bullet Train. The Bullet Train left at 9:21, to Kyoto. We got to Kyoto at 11:59. Then the tour bus came, and picked us up fifteen minutes later, to take us to our hotel. Which is Rihga Royal Hotel, it is a four star. After we checked in and took our carry-ons upstairs. Are other luggage was coming later that evening, because they can't stop in one minute and take all the luggage off. Then we walked out of the hotel to find a place to eat, we walked a very long way, and finally we found a place that was good. I had a small pizza, and I ate some kind of noodles my mom had with chopsticks. The tasted like eggs. Anyway tonight we went on a tour, which was fun. We had a tea ceremony, a zen-stlye tempura supper, we walked down "Maiko (young Geisha)" Lane, and a traditional performance at Gion Corner. The tea ceremony was we got to be a part of an authentic, relaxing tea ceremony. We walked through a Japanese garden and entered a cozy tearoom, where the tea master served tea and sweets to each guest individually in traditional manners. They say the zen-stlye tempura supper is the most nutritious Tempura dish. Deep-fried seasonal vegetables and other delicacies are served with soybean soup and steamed rice. The "Maiko" lane means we walk down to the Gion Corner through Gion area with well-preserved old houses will remind you of the ancient days of Kyoto. And we got to see one of the maiko girls walking down the street. Then we walked to the traditional performance at Gion Corner. We was seven Japanese traditional arts: koto music, flower arrangement, tea ceremony, gagaku (court music dance), kyogen (ancient comic play), kyomai (Kyoto-style Japanese dance), and bunraku (puppet drama). We came home about 10:00 or 10:30 and I went straight to bed.
